Delete your Wayve account
Last updated: October 11, 2026
You can delete your Wayve account at any time, from the app, from the website, or by email. Your account closes straight away and is permanently erased 30 days later.
How to delete your account
- In the Wayve app: open Settings, scroll to Data, tap Delete account and confirm.
- On joinwayve.com: sign in, open Settings, choose Danger zone, select Delete account, type DELETE and press Delete account.
- By email: write to hello@joinwayve.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my Wayve account”. We confirm and complete the request within 30 days.
Changed your mind? Email us within 30 days of deleting and we can restore your account. After that, it is gone for good.
What we delete
After the 30-day grace period we permanently erase:
- Your account: name, email address, phone number and profile photo.
- Your sign-in details, including Google sign-in links and two-factor backup codes.
- Your travel preferences and traveler details (regions, vibes, home country, currency).
- Your conversations with the Wayve assistant.
- Your settings, including your usage analytics choice.
- Trips you organised that nobody else has joined, with everything in them.
What stays with your crew
Trips are shared, so deleting your account doesn’t pull the rug out from under the people you travelled with:
- Trips you organised with other people in them pass to another member of the crew, who becomes the organiser.
- Photos you added, expenses you paid or split, and messages you sent in a shared trip stay so the crew’s history and balances still add up. They are shown as from a “Former traveler”, with no name, email or photo attached.
If you’d rather remove some of these first, do it before deleting your account (see below).
What we keep, and for how long
- Payment records (for example, subscription payments processed by Paystack) may be kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted.
- Usage analytics and crash reports (PostHog and Sentry) are tied to an internal account ID, never your name or email. Once your account is erased, that ID no longer leads back to you.
- Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis, so copies of erased data disappear from them within 30 days of erasure.
Delete some of your data, keep your account
You don’t have to delete your whole account to remove things:
- Photos: delete photos you uploaded from a trip’s Photos tab on joinwayve.com.
- Crew chat messages: delete any message you sent, in the app or on the website. It is removed for everyone straight away.
- Expenses: delete expenses you paid, from a trip’s expenses in the app or its Expenses tab on the website.
- Travel preferences: clear your regions, vibes and trip style under Settings → Travel in the app, or Settings → Travel prefs on the website.
- Usage analytics: turn off “Share usage analytics” in the app or “Usage analytics” on the website (Settings → Privacy). It stops for your account everywhere.
For anything else, such as specific trips, AI conversations or your phone number, email hello@joinwayve.com and tell us what to remove. We delete it within 30 days and let you know when it’s done.
More on how we handle your information is in our Privacy Policy.
